Welcome to the SPC Property Practice Certification programme!

As part of its Quality Charter initiative, leading Scottish property marketing company ESPC has launched a new training programme, the first of its kind in the UK.

What you will learn

The course has been carefully curated by ESPC, The Law Society of Scotland and the Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum and topics include estate agency and marketing; conveyancing for non-conveyancers; property law and building construction.

All individuals undertaking the four training modules will be awarded a Law Society of Scotland SPC Property Practice Certification.

Estate Agency and Marketing

This course is designed to provide you with a refreshed and invigorating new take on Estate Agency and your firm’s marketing approach.

Looking at the challenges and opportunities faced with solicitor estate agency, this course is designed to challenge and allow you to put practise into action.

Conveyancing for Non-Conveyancers

This course will give you a greater insight into the conveyancing process by identifying the key milestones of each transaction and providing you with insightful knowledge to assist your team and clients.

Each section will help you understand the integral legal process, highlighting what makes solicitor estate agency so unique.

Legal and Property Law

Providing insight into all things Property Law, from GDPR to Consumer Protection Regulations, this module will cover everything you need to know with insight on how to apply this knowledge to your role while understanding the importance of the regulations.

This course will give you an enhanced look at building construction for residential property.

By understanding a wide range of topics, from defects to the Home Report, you will develop an insight to help you identify some key issues your clients may face.

Richard Rawlings

Multi-award-winning estate agency trainer Richard Rawlings is regarded by many as the UK’s leading authority in contemporary estate agency method and marketing and is a sought-after, entertaining, and challenging estate agency trainer, motivator, and coach.

Richard brings with him over 25 years’ worth of experience.

Jak Carlin

Insightful and a pleasure to listen to, Jak Carlin, managing director of of Alleyoop will lead our marketing section of the course, giving you valuable insight and key take home points on how to raise the bar for your firm through marketing. Jak will provide actionable insights on how you can start to build and craft your digital reputation and drive solid business through content marketing. Jak is well renowned for working with many businesses across Scotland, previously working at Forth One, with a breadth of experience in the field.

Kirsten Nicolson

Kirsten has worked in the Edinburgh property industry since 2006, initially as an Estate Agent for Simpson & Marwick and Strutt & Parker. Whilst at Strutt & Parker she trained as a Surveyor via the College of Estate Management in Reading and gained MRICS status in 2012.Kirsten then spent a number of years at Graham + Sibbald before becoming a Director at DM Hall in 2022 where she carries out Home Reports, Scheme 1s and 2s, tax valuations, EPCs and other residential work for various Solicitors, Estate Agents, Lending Institutions and private individuals

Gordon Kerr

A lawyer with specialist expertise in legal and compliance issues. Former managing partner of a UK law firm and ex-chairman of ESPC. Gordon brings a depth of knowledge, passion, and inspirational coaching to the table.

Currently a consultant and trainer in all things Property Law, Gordon is sure to bring some real-life scenarios and case studies to the table to assist with your understanding and its importance for you and your firm.

A friendly face who will guide you through the nuances of the legal process, with a passion for strengthening the ties between estate agency and conveyancing.
